yadi says: I really like all of the books that I have read by Simone Elkeles so far, however this one just wasn't on par with the others I've read. Ashtyn is the captain of her high schools football team. Derek is her sisters step son. Derek's dad is deployed over seas and he gets kicked out of his private high school. So his step mom, who is Ashtyn's sister, move back to Chicago. They end up living under the same roof. The book starts of slow, I say this because it takes a while for Ashtyn and D...erek to hang out and for her to dump her boyfriend. Then right about half way through the book; bam, the book gets really fast paced. Derek meets his grandmother, and Ashtyn goes to football camp, and she realizes she loves Derek all of a sudden. Then the grandma starts of snooty in one page and the next couple pages she's kind and suddenly loves Ashtyn too. I just feel like the second part of the book got too rushed. There was no closure with Ashtyn's-moron-ex-boyfriend who did lots of bad stuff to her. No closure as in he was never put in his place and there was no sort of reception or end to his bad behavior. For the parental review, there are lots of bad words. There are also a few sex scenes, one is a couple paragraphs that is explicit. Definitely a book for college aged and up. rperrard says: As much as I wanted to love this book it just didn't do it for me. I didn't like Ashtyn (or her awful name) really at all. In fact, I thought her ditsy sister Brandi was more interesting. Derek was okay I guess, but he's no Alex Fuentes (that's for damn sure). I don't think I'd recommend this. It's not a bad book, there's just nothing remarkable about it. Nothing that would make me go back and read again like the books in the Perfect Chemistry series. MoreLessRead More Read Less
