oreallym8 says: It was pretty interesting — the perspective of a dude who has been heavily influenced by corrupt male figures in his life, but chooses to view himself as a genuinely okay person. You sense that he knows who he wants to be, but has trouble getting there. He's emotional, but apathetic about his bad decisions. I somehow empathized for him right from the start. Each chapter is about a new girl and he jumps throughout different periods in his life, in no chronological order. Danielle sa...ys: There is something about the way Junior Diaz writes and the subtly of the portrayals of his world and his characters that I can't help but love. I especially liked the changes in perspective. For all of Yunior's fuck-ups he never feels made up or over the top. He's a tragic figure, perhaps, but never a villain or an idiot. All that being said, I didn't really feel all that much of a connection to this book. I think I've just become tired of reading about men who can't help but be like their fathers.MoreLessRead More Read Less
