Dee says: jodi picoult is one of my favorite authors. ive loved everything shes written. this book started out so slow for me, though. I'm only giving it four stars because I couldn't really get into it until about half way through...but then I couldn't put it down. the characters were complex as they usually are and the detail to which jodi writes is just effortless. there were quite a few shocking moments that I didn't see coming, too. id say this has been my least favorite of hers but it is st...ill a good story if you can hang on until the story really gets going. cherry278 says: Picoult knows how to grab the reader and bring her/him in immediately. But, this book is full of so many stories that it's hard for me to know how to begin to review it. However, I have chosen to focus on the holocaust and how it affected families for more than 50 years after the end of WWII. Picoult gives us two perspectives -- actually more but two that seemed to be primary to the book. One is of a Nazi officer and the other of a jewish 'grandmother'. And, they are so very powerful. I really recommend this book highly as it is well written and compelling.MoreLessRead More Read Less
