“Burning braziers and flambeaux lit up the courtyard in front of the keep. Vampire lords and ladies, soldiers, servants, and courtesans mingled together, murmuring excitedly amongst themselves. The story of the ambush upon the caravan, and Lucian’s subsequent rebellion, had spread like wildfire through the fortress. Avid spectators waited impatiently for tonight’s entertainment.
