this book was amazing!!I will say that the mother-daughter alternating narrative was a nice change for this story, and I liked the plot twist related to Jenny and Chris’ relationship, and Elijah’s real dad. But I also wanted more from the backstory about Morgan’s past. It almost felt too set up in the way Hoover paints Jenny and Chris, and Morgan and Jonah as being more compatible. And the initial painting of Jonah’s disappearance from their lives felt a bit sloppy, but I guess that had to be left open to later make sense in terms of him removing himself from the temptation of Morgan.

This was a true page turner! I sincerely enjoyed every character and the roller coaster of emotions flowing from each page. I can so relate to the being a difficult teen and wishing I could go back in time to reverse those moments I deeply regret when it comes to how I treated my mother. How I wish I could have been more kind and loving to her, especially now as an adult I can see she really needed more love and less teenager attitude.

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover

Again I fell for CoHo! What’s not to love about that cover?!

I love the notion of having a mother and daughter dealing with tough situations and growing apart as many of us girls have when trying not to repeat patters.

It is a wonderful story to keep in one’s heart as Morgan and Clara will deal with the unpredictability of life when an accident strikes their lives and leaves their world upside down.

Will they be able to reconcile? Go ahead and read it!

Tbh, I think that there were some flawed elements of this book in terms of representing grief and moving forward from grief, consensual sex and stereotypical representations of sexual encounters, and the choice of subject matter for their film submission.

I also don’t love that there’s this expectation for these women to get married or stay in relationships solely because of a child.

Lastly, I wish there was a bit more of a difference in terms of narrative styles, so readers could feel a separation and difference in maturity and education between Morgan and Clara’s chapters.

But my reviews are all negative bc it is easier to pinpoint negative elements for us socialized humans. I will say that this book was comforting, and I never dislike Colleen’s stories or writing or structure.
