panenkamj says: I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting to read about the orphan trains; something I had never heard of before. I can't imagine how those children were able to deal with everything and it was sad to read about how some of the children were treated. Although there was some language and a detailed scene that I could have done without, overall I was pleased with the book. I was so glad that the main characters were able to help one another find some happiness in the end. JESS...break says: I feel like this could have been more historical. The orphan train portion really only relates to the first small chunk of the book. I was very involved in Niamh/Dorothy/Vivian's portion of the book but felt there could have been more development in Molly's part. I don't like the stereotype of the "vicious foster mom/parent" but I guess that all plays a part in the central theme of the book. It bothers me to read books where bad things continue to happen to a character who deserves happiness, but again I guess it all plays into the theme. My one big flaw was the child-like nature of the writing. This is a book meant for adults but it plays out much like a YA novel (no discredit to the genre). MoreLessRead More Read Less
