Considered a definitive book by many, this is a well-written, understandable book with clear instructions for learning the Vipassana form of meditation. I'd call it an early beginners book as I think it would be helpful to have some understanding of how to meditate before picking up the book. In addition to being an instructional manual of sorts, Bhante Gunaratana emphasizes the why of meditation. There are techniques for helping the beginning meditator through many
types of so-called hindrances to practice which I found helpful. In today's world of soul-crushing haste, the book shines a light into a different way of living.
