Aishilove says: **Children's Sci-Fi/Fantasy**After I finished reading this with my son before bed last night, he declared it was the best book he's ever read. He's a bit of a bookworm (like his mother) so this was a fairly weighty statement. I too was impressed with this sci-fi children's fantasy. It begins with the mother going away to a work conference and leaving the father to take care of the children alone for a few days. They run out of milk and the father runs out to buy some more. However..., he takes longer than the children expect, and upon his return tells them of his wild adventures on his way back. I laughed out loud in several places. The drawings were a great addition. One of my favorite exchanges:"I think that there should have been some nice wumpires," said my sister, wistfully. "Nice, handsome, misunderstood wumpires.""There were not," said my father.~FIVE STARS~ Kimyeah says: This is a book that does exactly what it sets out to do. It's a funny story a suspiciously Gaiman-like dad tells his kids to explain being so long at the store when he just went to buy milk. Or is it? Yes, it is. Anyway, this is a cute little volume - half overgrown picture-book, half book-length run-on sentence, half junior version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (Yes, I know that's three halves. Deal with it. ) Scottie Young's illustrations are perfect. I think this would be great for reading aloud with a grade-schooler. Kirsty says: I had no expectations going into this book. I've read one book by gaimon before this and wanted to read more by him so I thought I would go with one of his shorter ones and pocked this one up. I didn't even read the synopsis. So I was pleasantly surprised by it. I really enjoyed it and I think this would be a great book to read to my little sister. I listened to the story on audiobook so I missed the illustrations so I might pick a copy up just to see the illustrations later.MoreLessRead More Read Less

Once you read a few stories and you move on to this on, it seems very long. But overall, I think this is a very god book!

A brilliant story! The perfect story about nothing and everything. But you are missing the pictures and they add so much to this tale.

It is very lovely crazy story. I like it! It likes "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy", only for children.
