Shynro says: I have absolutely loved both of Shauna's previous books and this one is no different. She writes more towards a woman's perspective on things, but the quality of her writing and the depth of the insights that she shares continually amazes me and I would recommend her books to anyone, male of female. She writes with a brutal honesty about the ups and downs of life and the lessons she has been learning through it all. Thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking. If you haven't read any ...of her work, it should immediately go to the top of your list. And as a bonus for the guys, even if you don't want to read the book, you should get it for your wife because 1) she'll read it and love it and 2) she'll most likely start using the recipes in here (which are all Very good!). Favorite Quote: "What makes me feel alive and connected to God's voice and spirit in the world is creating opportunities for the people I love to rest and connect and be fed at my table. I believe it's the way i was made, and I believe it matters. For many years, I didn't let it matter, for a whole constellation of reasons, but part of becoming yourself, in a deeply spiritual way, is finding the words to tell the truth about what it is you really love." Monie says: Closer to 3.5 stars but I'll round up. I agree with others who have mentioned Shauna's extravagant live and how often the actual points of her stories are completely unrelateble, but overall I enjoyed this. It was a gift from a spiritually minded friend, and something I probably never would have picked up on my own, but there is some good self-reflection in the book that caused me as the read to also reflect on cooking and how we present ourselves to the world when we entertain.MoreLessRead More Read Less
